Road Commission
A short update from the Town of Day Road Commission. For those who do not know, the Town of Day manages over 50 miles of road, not including the county highways.
The Road Commission is tasked with managing all our miles and in 2025 we focused on: North Road (back end). We reviewed each road and culverts within in the township. From there we meet as a group and discuss our observations, in which we discuss how much material is on the surface and if there is enough to be able to continue grading the surfaces as they currently are or if there is a need to add additional road material to the road surface.
Culverts, are also reviewed during this time in which they get identified in being steel, plas- tic, or concrete. Majority of the culverts are of the polypropylene material, there are a few steel units still out there and are getting to the end of their life span.
Bridges are inspected yearly by an outside source, to ensure that our structures are safe.
Here is a listing of roads that are currently being considered for some additional material for the next year or two. Please remember that these are suggested road surfaces, as conditions can change from year to year.
County Line RD off Popular
River Run from Kraus Street to Guldan Rd.
Other roads under consideration are
Freiders Rd
Eau Pleine Road from Freiders to the bridge
Veerland Rd.
Liquid Dow Material, all surfaces have been complete as of August 1, 2025. This process takes some time due to our supplier being on a limited supply from their supplier. Our current supplier provides material to most municipalities in Wisconsin. We are looking at other possible sources, which can work with our Township a little more.
Sincerely,
ROAD COMMISSION
