From the Chairman Joe Brueggen

Another year is coming to an end in a couple of short months. We have experienced a lot of different weather within the last few months....the farmers have been able to get crops in a little earlier than usual, then continuous heavy rain, cool weather until July, and the smoke haze from wild fires coming from our neighbors to the north.

With this edition of the Town of Day Newsletter, we are making some changes to provide more information to our local residents. As we move forward with future editions, you may see additional changes to the format as well.

As a town Board, we have been working over the past few months to be more transparent with how we present items and having information available to residents, which hopefully provides a better understanding as to why decisions have been made in certain situations. It is a large undertaking of work by the team, but will benefit residents going forward.

Here are some current happenings within the Town of Day this year. The Town has adopted an updated Comprehensive Plan (needs to be completed every 10 years), a Zoning Ordinance has been written and is currently being reviewed by the county. In regards to roads, all liquid dow has been applied (August 1, 2025). Some years this process takes so long to complete as the supplier (located outside of Chicago) limits how much our application contractor gets every month, and our contractor does other roads throughout the entire state of Wisconsin. If anyone knows of someone who applies dust control onto road surfaces please let one of the board members know. We are looking at a possible local source for next year (2026) as we are conducting some area road testing of the proposed material. We do continue to apply granite to roads as needed, as you will note in the Road Commission section, the Township must have a five-year road plan put together as a requirement for any application for state assistance.

With harvest season around the corner, please allow plenty of room for farm equipment to operate on the roads. Farmers, please be cognizant of mailboxes and to not drive into the ditch line of lawns when traveling roads. I have had a couple of phone calls the past few weeks of people stating that their mailboxes were taken out by a piece of farm equipment.

And finally, the snow season is still a couple short months away. Please remember that pushing snow across a roadway is illegal, and possibly dangerous for the person pushing snow across the road. Along with that note, please ensure that your mailboxes are in good repair as there are some along the roadways which are duct taped together, wired up, and or propped up with other pieces of lumber.

If you call a board member about a situation or have a question, please leave a short message in regards to your concerns, so we can follow up and provide you the information you need.

Regards,

Stay Safe and Continue to Enjoy the beauty of our Township Area.

Joe Brueggen
