We are reaching out to follow up regarding some questions that were asked at the last Town of Day meeting on May 21. Please see below for some responses from our team:
- Who is the contact point for local utilities (specifically Alliant) stray voltage investigations?

- Will Alliant release environmental studies as they are completed, and will they be redacted?
- Environmental studies will be included in our public Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) application to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (WPSC). Publicly redacted information is at the direction of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and/or United States Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS).
- What is the timeline for PSC submittal of the CPCN, specifically the 180 day pre-submittal process?
- The currently anticipated timeline for CPCN application submission is 4th quarter 2026. Any pre-submittal notifications required will be submitted within appropriate notice requirements, including those related to PSC 128.105.
- Can you provide PSC docket number to town when available?
- Yes
- How far from a 'Wildlife Area' will turbines be sited?
- These types of setbacks are generally determined by the WDNR and can vary depending on the specifics of the situation.
- How do we know when and how you will fix the roads that you damage?
- These project specific details such as notice requirements and repair methodologies are typically included memorialized in a Road Use Agreement or Joint Development Agreement. It is each local government’s unit’s decision whether they would like to enter into an agreement.
- The amount of concrete required for wind turbine foundations is immense, does Alliant have experience with the stress this would put on local concrete batch plants and potential supply issues it would cause for normal smaller customers such as local construction companies? Has there been any coordination or mitigation strategies implemented to help minimize disruption to access to concrete for others?
- We do have experience working with local construction companies and understand the concern. Typically, contractors work with local batch plants as that is a good boost for their business. In the case that they aren’t able to accommodate our needs due to whatever reason, a mobile batch plant can be brought in to accommodate.
- How many acres per turbine on average are temporarily disturbed during construction in addition to the permanent acreage removed from production of about ~2 acres per turbine?
- Typically about 2-3 acres total are disturbed during construction. We will be as efficient as we can to reduce the area.
