SUBJECT: Marathon County Alternative Energy Project Local Impact Advisory Committee – Hub City Wind Farm: Public Input Opportunities

In April 2026, the Marathon County Board of Supervisors established the Alternative Energy Project Local Impact Advisory Committee (AEPLIAC) in response to the proposed Hub City Wind Farm Project. The purpose of the AEPLIAC is to gather and evaluate concerns, opportunities, and potential impacts identified by residents, towns, and other local units of government regarding this proposed large-scale wind energy project. The committee serves in an advisory role to the Marathon County Executive Committee by providing local input and recommendations.
This information will help the Executive Committee evaluate whether Marathon County should enter into a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with the project developer and identify potential terms and provisions that may be appropriate for inclusion in such an agreement. Any proposed JDA would ultimately be considered for approval by the Marathon County Board of Supervisors.
This committee is meeting between May and July 13, 2026, specifically related to Alliant Energy’s Hub City Wind Project, which is being proposed in the towns of Brighton, Cleveland, Day, Eau Claire, Green Valley, and McMillan.* Alliant provided a presentation to the AEPLIAC on May 18, 2026. This memo and attached flyer provide information on public input opportunities the AEPLIAC will provide to gather public comment. We ask that you share the flyer with residents in your town. Please post at your town hall and circulate via email if possible.

Public Forum
A structured forum that will allow the public to submit opportunities and concerns, and suggestions for developer agreements will be held.

*PLEASE NOTE* While there may be other wind and solar projects residents wish to discuss, the Committee is only requesting input on the Alliant Hub City proposal at this time. If the County Board authorizes further committees for other projects, the towns will be notified.
